This week at WHS Plastics HQ Shaun Devenney celebrated 25 years of continuous service. Shaun joined the company in 1999 as Purchasing Manager, he stayed in this role for 10 years before moving into a different area of the business with complete commercial responsibility for our biggest none automotive customer. Shaun has continued in this role since 2009 and has added many more customers to his portfolio and is now working across multiple sites in the WHS group. Some words from Shaun below to mark the occasion:
“I came to work this morning, oblivious that I had completed 25 years of working at WHS. I was really touched that this was recognised by my colleagues and the company and have all the thanks to their congratulations and support throughout the day, especially when coupled with a delicious celebratory cake!
It’s only natural to reflect on the changes that I have observed through my time as well as the development that I have gone through myself. However, when you strip it all down, what is true throughout this time is that if you are going to enjoy what you do and be successful, it’s all about pulling together as a team, working towards a common goal and treating each other with respect. I hope at times that I have contributed in this regard as well as telling the occasional joke to lighten the mood. One of the most pleasurable experiences has been to see young colleagues grow and develop into roles, which really take themselves and the company forward.
Having said all of that, it’s never really about the past, it’s about now and hope for a continued and better future, otherwise what’s it all about? I’m sure for those who wish it, there’s great prospects ahead of you with WHS and all the opportunities an organisation with a family ethos and multi-site Group can offer. If I didn’t believe this, I wouldn’t have lasted 25 years. Yet, you’ll be pleased to know that another 25 years may be a moulding machine too far for me!”
WHS Board member Mike Murphy said “Shaun exemplifies many of the core values of the WHS Group including Trust, Respect and Openness and we are extremely proud that he has stayed loyal to the company for the last 25 years. On behalf of the board a huge thank you to Shaun for his contribution to the company and for his support for our many partner customers”
